A recent initiative of the IRCTC, The Mahaparinirvana Express is a Buddhist pilgrim train that covers prominent destinations which include Bodhgaya, Varanasi, Sarnath, Lumbini and Sravasti along with a stopover in Agra. The second is Panj Takht Express, launched by Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board , that covers various Sikh shrines in the span of 8 days.
